Frequently Asked Questions
Who is manual lymphatic drainage not for?
If you have any of the following, I do not recommend manual lymphatic drainage;
- Cardiac edema
- Renal failure
- Acute infection
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Bronchial asthma or bronchitis
- Active malignancy
What will I experience after the massage?
Many patients say they experience a “flushing” or “clearing” sensation after manual lymphatic drainage massages. More than anything, you will feel relaxed, soothed, and recharged.
CAN I GET A Lymphatic MASSAGE IF I’M PREGNANT OR POST-PARTUM?
Absolutely! Lymphatic drainage is great for reducing swelling during pregnancy.
How often should I get a manual lymphatic drainage massage?
For those actively recovering from injury or surgery or undergoing active treatment for chronic conditions, you’ll get the best results from MLD with regular frequency, up to two to four sessions per week. Upon stabilization and for ongoing maintenance, or for healthy lymphatic systems, the frequency can be lessened to one to two sessions per month.
Do you offer bundle discounts?
Yes! I offer progressively larger discounts for multiple sessions when paid in advance. Head to our bundle pricing page to learn more.
Is manual Lymphatic drainage painful? does it involve cutting of the skin?
No and no. Manual lymphatic drainage and information around the lymphatic system in general is a relatively recent development in the world of healthcare and manual therapy, and there is A LOT of information out there with varying degrees of validity. The manual lymphatic drainage I am trained in is gentle and simple, and does not involve pushing fluid out of the body through open wounds.
